In July of 2010, Rasmussen was approved as NYC Aviation's newest staff writer and began pursuing photojournalism leads with specific reference to aviation. This was a particularly pleasant milestone as it combined two of his loves -- photojournalism and aviation. During his 2009 stint as the Managing Editor for Boise State's student-run newspaper (The Arbiter), Rasmussen oversaw all photography and digital media. He took responsibility for training photographers, producers and the photo editor. In addition, he wrote articles and shot photos for the sports section. In December 2009, Rasmussen traveled to Arizona to photograph the week-long festivities associated with the 2010 Fiesta Bowl, capping the week in The University of Phoenix Stadium shooting the historic game itself. In March of 2009, he sat on the court through six games over a two-day period shooting the first and second rounds of the men's, NCAA tournament in Boise. Also from the collegiate front, while working on his Associate of Science Degree at North Idaho College (2006-2008), he advanced through the ranks of the Sentinel, NIC's student-run newspaper, ultimately becoming the Managing Editor in 2007. The Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) recognized Rasmussen with a writing award, and the Idaho Press Club issued him an award for page design. Under his leadership, the Sentinel won a number of prestigious awards including the following: 2007-2008 Pacemaker Award; first place in Best of Show -- New York City College Media Advisers Apple Award; first place in Best of Show -- Region 10 SPJ Mark of Excellence Award and first place in Best of Show -- Washington D.C. Associated Collegiate Press National Convention. The Sentinel placed first in Best of Show at the Portland Associated Collegiate Press National Convention when he held the position of sports editor, and secured first place in Best All-Around Newspaper at the Washington D.C. SPJ National Convention while he wrote for the news and sports sections. Rasmussen has traveled to and shot photos in many cities both domestically and internationally, conquering the challenges associated with shooting in a variety of climates and cultures. He takes pride in remaining motivated and organized, maintaining a professional business style and staying ready to tackle all of the most-important photographic needs. |
